You will receive your child's photograph this week. We hope you like them.
Unfortunately, we have had to use a different company this year to take our photographs as our usual photographer is ill and undergoing treatment; we really do wish him well in his recovery and hope to welcome him back next year.
We have used the new company on his recommendation as it was quite late notice and we wanted to get the photographs taken before Christmas as we know many of you use them for Christmas gifts.
We ourselves realised that the cost of the photographs this year are more expensive than usual, so Mrs Smith in the Office did negotiate and the costs you will now see are the negotiated prices.
Please be aware, that if your order online, there is a 10% discount.
Many thanks.
As you will be aware, we have been trialling the new Breakfast Club since the start of October. We started the club as we had a positive response to our consultation with lots of people interested. Since the club has started on average we have 3 to 4 pupils a day and sometimes only 1. On one occasion we had 10 children and this is what we need on a regular basis to make is sustainable.
Therefore we need to make a decision whether the club will carry on or not after Christmas. We will make this decision on Monday 11th December and inform parents so they can make other arrangements for after Christmas if need be. This gives us 4 weeks to try and make this work. If you want to help us keep this club, please book your child in. To book, please use the designated number - 07784 446 456.
Many thanks.
Wednesday 1st November saw the launch of the Framework Charity Christmas Single 'Reach Out and Lend a Helping Hand', written and composed by Mr Lawry.
The press launch was held in the Kilborn Community Room with representatives from local newspapers, radio stations, Ashfield Council and Framework itself. Parents and family members of our Junior Choir were invited along to the event to hear the song performed live for the first time. It was a privilege to host such a special and momentous occasion in school.
This is such an exciting project made possible by very talented, humble and generous people who are so giving of their time to think about others. Here at KWS, we feel incredibly lucky to be associated with Mr Lawry. He has been a busy man over the past year not only composing the score and lyrics to the song but in bringing together 300 musicians to create a moving and meaningful piece.
We also feel privileged that both our Junior and Community Choir, under the leadership of Mrs Harman, were asked to play a part in this song. As a school, we are extremely proud to be part of this wonderful project - a project that we wish every success; a project which we hope continues to raise awareness of homelessness within our community; a project where we hope people realise the difference they can make by 'reaching out and lending a helping hand'.
Now wouldn't a Christmas Number One be great! All proceeds from the single will go to Framework.
Here's how you can help:
