Wow what a busy few weeks we have had in Year 3! We have had a fantastic time in Walesby, some children have achieved their Gold spellings award with many children very close, we are working towards our times tables awards and more pen licences have been issued.
Now that the sun has decided to shine can you please make sure all children have a water bottle, sun hat and suncream that has been applied before school.
Children still need to have an outdoor PE kit that is suitable in all weather! Girls that wear shorts under their Summer dresses will need separate shorts to change into for PE.

Welcome back after the break, we hope you have all enjoyed the weather, the time off and all of your Easter Eggs!
Next week we will be going on our residential to Walesby. Please make sure you send in your snack bags and medical forms as soon as possible. We don't need your child's money until the day that we go so please don't send this in before Wednesday.
If you are struggling to source any of the kit that is needed please do not hesitate to come to see us, we do not have an endless supply but might be able to help you if needed.

We have had a busy week of Pen Licenses, Silver Spelling Awards and Times Tables Awards being gained. Well done!
We hope your egg creations are taking shape, and we are really looking forward to seeing the 'eggcellent eggsibition'! Please bring these straight into the community room on Friday morning. If you have a younger child taking part in the Bonnet/Hat parade in the afternoon, you will be able to collect your KS2 child room their class afterwards.
A reminder that we are holding our Walesby meeting for parents tomorrow at 3:10pm in the New Hall. Please do not worry if you are unable to attend as information packets will be given out to children.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you next week for our Parents' Evening. If you have not yet signed up for this, please arrange an appointment to discuss your child's progress this year so far.
A reminder that next Tuesday is our 'It's good to be different' day. Your child can come to school dressed in bright colours on this day.
Remember to practise any missing spellings plus this week's 5 with your child for the term as they will tested this Friday.
We hope you have had an 'egg'cellent time making your egg creations, and we are sure that they are taking shape nicely. We are really looking forward to seeing them all on Friday 5th April.
We break up for the Easter holidays on Friday 5th April and school re-opens on Tuesday 23rd April.

Can we begin with a massive 'Thank you' for the fantastic response we had to our Egyptian Afternoon. The children loved sharing their enjoyment of the topic with you all. It was lovely to see parents, grandparents, younger children and our Year 3's all having fun together, dancing, making Egyptian crafts and mummifying teddy bears (and each other!)
This week you should have received a letter about Parents Evening asking you to choose a suitable time to come and speak to us about your child's progress. Please ask for another letter if you have not yet returned your slip.
This terms homework is our annual Decorate an Egg event. Children are asked to decorate an egg, or create an egg themed creation either alone or as part of a family creation. The egg event will take place on the last day before we break up for Easter. We look forward to seeing your creations!

We have been working very hard with our preparations for our Egyptian Afternoon next Monday 18th March. We look forward to seeing many of you there at 1:45pm.
A reminder that we are supporting Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March. The children can come wearing something RED on this day. There is also a £1 donation for this please.
PLEASE can your child have an INDOOR and an OUTDOOR PE kit in school at all times.
We hope are making progress with your eggs ready for the last day of term. We are looking forward to seeing your wonderful creations.

Welcome back. We hope you had a lovely half term break.
We are hoping to have a visit from the RSPB next Wednesday morning. The children will be working within the school grounds. Please can you ensure that they bring appropriate footwear for this activity.
Our World Book Day will be on Thursday 7th March. Your child can come into school dressed as a book character of their choice. We are also asking them to bring in their favourite book they can read with a friend during the day.
There is an increasing number of children without PE kit in school. Please, please, please can you ensure that your child has a full kit in school as we do not have enough spare kit to accommodate so many children.

Class 3VW have had a lovely morning today Time Travelling at Annesley Church.
We have had a very busy half term and are all ready for the week off next week. During the half term break please make sure that your child continues to read and also spends some time on Times Tables Rock Stars.

As many of you are aware, Mrs Vernon has been off ill the last two weeks and will not be returning until after the half term holidays. Miss Peat has been teaching the class at the beginning of the week and will continue to do so.
Later this week you will be receiving a letter about our Egyptian Afternoon. This will be on Monday the 18th March form 1.45 pm, all parents are welcome.
3DP have had a lovely morning Time Travelling today at Annesley Church. 3VW are looking forward to their visit to the church next Wednesday.

Each Friday we will be having a 'Fun Read Friday session' as part of our Literacy work. Your child can bring to school a book of their choice to read alone or share with their group.
We have now sent out the letter for Walesby and have had lots of slips returned with the first payment. Nearer the date there will be a meeting to answer any questions or concerns you may have about this trip.
We are overwhelmed by the response we have had to the Rock Stars Times Tables program and can see that many children are spending time on this at home. These children are making great progress with their times tables knowledge and certificates are beginning to be handed out in assembly. Please encourage your child to spend some time on this at home.

We have started our exciting new topic this week and have been busy learning about the Ancient Egyptians.
Please remember that the first payment of £20 (£15 for pupil premium)for Walesby needs to be paid by 1st February.
Our Aspire Afternoons will begin again next Tuesday 29th January for 6 weeks. Your child will be informed which activity they will be accessing and if they need to bring anything in.

This term the children have been introduced to Rockstars Maths. This is a fun online programme that teaches times tables in a fun way. Please encourage your children to spend times playing on this at home.

Welcome back, we hope you have had a great Christmas. It has been lovely to see Mrs. Davidson back and well. The children were all very pleased to see her and she is happy to be back.
The children will be attending the NSPCA assembly on Thursday 17th January. All forms need to be returned to school by Monday to let us know if you would like your child to opt out. A letter has been sent home from Mrs. Mallender about this earlier this week.
Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school everyday. All PE kits should include socks as children cannot keep tights on for PE.

Last week you all received party food request slips. You can now begin to send in non perishables if you wish but please only send in perishable food on the day.

All dinners have now been ordered. If you have have not ordered their Christmas dinner then your child will need a packed lunch.
Thursday 19th December - Christmas Party Day
Children can come to school wearing party clothes. Make sure they are wearing suitable shoes and warm coats for playtime.

We had a fantastic day at Creswell Crags on Monday, the children were fantastically well behaved and had fun learning lots and having fun.
Thank you for all the donations to our Christmas Fayre stalls, we have just taken all the bags up to the hall and we are confident that our stall will be a huge success.
Tomorrow we are having our Year group Dojo reward. The classes have chosen a day of wearing our pj's, bringing a pillow and enjoying a hot chocolate in a mug that they bring from home.

Today you should have received a letter about our trip to Creswell Crags on Monday. It tells you what your child will need along with the timings for the day.
Please remember that it is the school Christmas Fayre on Wednesday. This will run from 3.30pm - 5.00pm. Please note that children will need to be collected from their classroom at the usual time and accompanied around the Christmas Fayre.

Wow what a fantastic response we had to our Country in a Box morning! Thank you to all that came along and to all the help you have given your children at home.
We have had a few donations for our Bag a Bargain stall and our hampers. If you still have items to donate they will be greatly received.
Please remember we are coming to school in odd socks on Friday 23rd November to celebrate our differences as part of Anti Bullying Week.

Parents evening will be taking place next week, you will have received your appointment time if you have returned your slip. All parents are welcome to wait in 3DP classroom.
We will be displaying our 'Country in a box' homework in the Community room on Wednesday 21st November.This will take place at 9.10 am until 10 am. Parents are welcome to wait in the community room after dropping off their children, refreshments will be available for a small charge.
All children taking part in the Christmas concert have now been given their parts. Please make sure your child attends all the rehearsals that they need to attend.

Welcome back after half term, we hope you have enjoyed the half term break. As we are sure you are aware we are entering a very busy half term. Along with updating the diary dates on our Year 3 page we are letting know about the many upcoming events we have this half term.
This week is our Patching Art Centre visit week. Class 3DP really enjoyed their visit today and have produced lovely take care art work. 3VW we being going on Friday and we are sure they too will enjoy their day.
Thank you for all the great, creative Country in a Box homework that you have been sending in. If your child has not yet sent theirs in can they please do so as soon as possible. You are all invited into school for an open morning on Wednesday 21st November where the children will be sharing their projects. This will be in the Community room 9:10am until around 10.00am. We look forward to seeing you there.

Our Christmas Fayre will be held on December 5th. As a year group we will be running a 'Bag a Bargain' stall. We would greatly welcome donations of gift bags or gifts to put inside the bags. These gifts may be as small as a bottle of water or a bottle of bubble bath or as big as a bottle of aftershave, a fancy candle or even a Grand Prize from a company you work for such as a voucher or hamper.
The Christmas Carol Service will be on Monday 10th December at St Johns Church. All are welcome and now your children are in Year 3 some children may choose to take part. Details will be given to the children later in the term.

Wow, what a busy, hard working half term we have had! Just a reminder, we are closed for INSET on Friday 26th October and school will re-open on Tuesday 6th November.
Over the half term break your child will need to complete their 'Country in a box' homework. These need to be returned to school during the first two weeks back to school. We look forward to seeing all your wonderfully creative ideas! You will all be invited into school for an open morning on Wednesday 21st November where the children will be sharing their work This will be in the Community room 9:10am until around 10.00am. We look forward to seeing you there.
Also please encourage your child to practise their spellings and their times tables. Year 3 are working on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables this year. They also need to know the division facts for these tables as well.
Your child has received an Action Aid letter this week it would be lovely if they could do jobs around the house to raise money for this worthy cause. We are asking that the children give up their time by earning money for helping out.
We will be visiting Patching's Art Centre during the first week back at school. 3DP will be going in the morning on Wednesday 7th November and 3VW on Friday 9th November. The children will be going during normal school hours, they will need to go in dressed in school uniform and will not need any money. They will be back at school in time for lunch as normal.

Friday 26th October and Monday 5th October are INSET days and school will be closed for half term. School will reopen Tuesday 6th October.
Can you please make sure that all children are sent to school with the correct kit if they are taking part in lunchtime or after school clubs. Also if children are playing football they need football boots and shin pads that are separate to their PE kit.
Thank you for all the baking and tasting money that has been sent in so far. If you have not yet sent it in can you please send in the £5 for the year as soon as possible.
We hope you agree that the children have made a great start to Year 3 and have settled into Key Stage 2 life very well.

Look out for the letter about our visit to Patching's Art Centre that will be sent home this week.
Next week we will be beginning our Aspire Weeks, these will run each Tuesday afternoon for the next six week from Tuesday 9th October - Tuesday 20th November. The children will be finding out their groups and what activity they will be doing shortly. If your child is chosen to take part on Forest Schools they will need suitable clothing and footwear, ie. Wellies and waterproof, warm trousers and coat.

Next week we will be taking part in the whole school Modern Foreign Languages Day. In Year 3 we will be looking at the country of Italy. Children should come to school dressed in red, white and green or in Italian Style clothes. During the day they will have the opportunity to design, make and eat their own pizza. Please see the separate letter that is going home about food allergies.
To support our curriculum in Year 3 we are asking for £5 per child. This money will enable us to carry out food tasting, baking and a range of topic based activity over the year. Can this money please be paid directly to class teachers instead of the school office.
Please watch out for a letter going home this week about this terms creative topic Country in a Box. This creative task will need to be returned to school the first week back after October Half Term.
Please, please, please make sure your child has their PE kit in school everyday. Both classes have been missing kit every session so far.
