Assessment and Reporting

Assessment plays an important part in helping staff to recognise children’s progress, understand their needs and to help plan exciting activities. On-going assessment is a very important part of the development process and it helps us to understand their level of achievement.

From the day your child starts nursery we will create a ‘Learning Journal’. The aim of this is to document your child’s time in nursery using photographs, observations and pieces of work. These will show your child taking part in activities that are linked to the seven areas of learning and development that make up the Foundation Stage Curriculum.

If your child gains any certificates, swimming awards etc. outside of nursery then please feel free to send these in and we will celebrate their achievements with all the children.

You will be invited in to celebrate their time in nursery at the end of the year and will be given the opportunity to look through your child’s Learning Journey at 'Stay and Play' sessions which happen three times a year. These will then be sent

home after the nursery graduation ceremony in July.
